Part two
Starbucks, early morning hour, extra hot chai tea on the table beside her. Fingers clicking away on the keyboard propped in her lap. The location was ideal for her, having full view of both the coffee shop and a portion of the world through the large window. Everything from counting snowflakes in winter to watching strangers passing by were always a welcome and gave her a break from her humdrum days.
It was then that she noticed he was there. The masculine stranger she had seen at the office the other day or had it been weeks now. He had been working his way to a table when he caught sight of her, if for no other reason than she was alone.
They exchanged a knowing nod and slight smile. He lowered his eyes as he removed his brown suede jacket. She dared to continue her long hard look as he set his coat on the back of a chair, adjusting it as if on someones shoulder. He ran his fingers through his hair as he sat to read the morning paper.
She felt her heart quicken.
The long drives, stuffed in the back seat of our Pink Rambler, in between two sisters is where I learned the art of throwing daggers with my eyes and how many songs can be sung with words like 'this' and 'that', causing the tongue to shoot in the direction of whichever sister you were mad at the time with. All the while, having an excuse in the lyrics of the song. All that, and plethora more...
