I just finished a short story the other day using a Willow Tree figurine - father and son.
I love Willow Tree figurines. You are the first to hear this. I have told no one up til now. I give Willow Tree as gifts. I don't own any, at least I didn't until today. In the mail I got a Willow Tree figurine of a woman holding a knotted gold chain.
“Gold is also used on this piece to signify something precious and valuable. The knotted gold chain can represent a very special friendship which has endured and grown richer over the years.”
I love it because it is Willow Tree.
I love it because it is my first piece.
Finally I love it because it is from one of my sisters. We are in the process of redefining our relationship. She left the family unit some 28 years ago, reappearing about 3 years ago without notice. I missed her. The easy part is we never really had much of a relationship to begin with so we get to start from scratch, not having to pick up pieces so to speak, then use that as a starting point.
It is a gift, a symbol of a more precious gift to me.
The long drives, stuffed in the back seat of our Pink Rambler, in between two sisters is where I learned the art of throwing daggers with my eyes and how many songs can be sung with words like 'this' and 'that', causing the tongue to shoot in the direction of whichever sister you were mad at the time with. All the while, having an excuse in the lyrics of the song. All that, and plethora more...
