I was 25 years old. I walked into the backyard of our home to hang laundry up. I noticed construction workers next door working on an apartment complex. It's OK. I will focus on the task at hand, get the job done and head back into the house.
I began hanging clothes up. Keeping focus...moving along the clothesline to clip up more and more until the basket was almost empty.
Isn't that always when things you don't want to have happen happen?
I took another step right into a dip in the yard.
The trip -
Down I went.
Up I came.
So fast in fact, I would dare anyone to say what even happened other than seeing a flash!
I did the only thing I could do, I continued to hang the few bits of clothing, all the while, pretending...I meant to do that
its OK to giggle
The long drives, stuffed in the back seat of our Pink Rambler, in between two sisters is where I learned the art of throwing daggers with my eyes and how many songs can be sung with words like 'this' and 'that', causing the tongue to shoot in the direction of whichever sister you were mad at the time with. All the while, having an excuse in the lyrics of the song. All that, and plethora more...
